Temat: Materials Research at UNIOS – From Theory to Applications

Prelegent: Profesor Igor Lukacevic (Applied Nanomaterials Group, Department of Physics, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia) 

Abstract: Material studies at UNIOS encompasses almost 20 years of research. It started by studying semiconductor properties under high pressures using ab initio theoretical approaches. In 2015 the research focussed on nanomaterials, specifically, 2D materials. The group was the first to predict the stability of two monoelemental 2D materials of indium and aluminium. Stable aluminium monolayers still await their synthesis. Today, the group joins the experimental and theoretical methodologies. The focus is directed toward applied nanomaterials, primarly in sensorics and hybrid nanostructures.
